Stock up on books at a good price: Used book sale at Los Altos Community Center

Books can get pricey especially for kids! Why not get a secondhand book to enjoy and then pass on? In fact, why not get a bag full of books?

I enjoy checking out the used book sales that get coordinated by volunteers at local libraries. In this case, we went to the February book sale held by the Friends of the Los Altos Library. The event started on Friday night with a members-only pre-sale and goes on through the weekend on Saturday and Sunday for the public. You can join as a member at the door on Friday night and it's $10 per family.

Then you enter and there's rows and rows and rooms full of books. All genres, all types of books, DVDs, CDs, puzzles, and more. We went for the kids books and got board books and picture books. They were only $1 each! I even found books that were on my Amazon wishlist for buying, and here they were for a $1 only!! I think the pricing can be different for other types of books, but still, it's a really good deal and books can be in good condition.

Here are the books we got for a whopping total price of $7. Our little one is already a big fan of the Babies book. Who can resist cute pictures of baby animals?

Books make me happy and it was great to see so many books available. I could've spent hours there. I've also brought books to the library to donate, which end up getting sold at book sales like these. I think it's a great way to keep giving new life to old books and then another family can enjoy them.

It's impressive how big the event is, how many books there are, how organized it is, how many volunteers there are, and how many people are there on a Friday night who are browsing and going home with bags full of books. Oh on Sunday of this book sale, there's also a deal where you can get a whole bag of books for $5! So cheap. Wow. What a great way to discover new reads or to finally get your hands on books that you've been wanting to read.
