Grab-and-Go Green Onion Pancakes, Chives Pies, Meat Pies, Rice Burritos, and Buns from Jenny's Kitchen in San Jose

New favorite place alert! This is a hidden gem in the corner of a mostly abandoned plaza in San Jose on Moorpark Ave, right off Lawrence Expressway. You would also think this place is abandoned too except there's a flashing Open sign above the door. But once your inside, it is very much open and bustling!

There's delicious homemade Chinese food found in every corner of the store, from the main counter of hot, freshly made food, to the wall of buns, and fridge of more food/drinks/eggs, and freezer full of dumplings. Don't forget the ground also has bags of vegetables, dried red dates, or fruits you can buy too. Last time we scored this big bag of Asian greens for $6.50 (I don't know the name, but I think it is was some type of baby greens but hard to find in regular stores or rather it would be more expensive elsewhere).

They also have these Taiwanese buns or purple rice burritos with pork floss + preserved veggies - Chinese donut inside. I have tried the latter and can arrest they are good!

If you come here, there's so much to choose from, but I recommend the green onion pancakes (no yeast version, they are giant!) and the chives pies. Also the buns (bao zi) are worth trying too (the vegetable one is surprisingly good!). If you buy 2 bags of bao zi, I think you save a couple dollars more. The black sesame balls were wow, so good! Save yourself a trip to SF Chinatown by getting it here!

It's easy to get carried away haha, but it's a great place to stock up! The pancakes/pies are good for a snack, the buns or burritos are good for a quick weekday breakfast, or the frozen dumplings can be for those days you need a meal in a pinch! Also you could freeze any of this stuff too.

You could also bring some to share for a party, as I did here. I cut it into smaller pieces, sorry it was falling apart a little.

Or if you're traveling for a road trip, we like to stop by here to get some food for the road. Stuff for either breakfast to eat in the car or to munch on during the ride.

These would also be great to pack for kids lunches (the buns in particular) too!

Overall, delicious food, it tastes authentic and legit. It's seasoned just right. Plus it's affordable! And people know it and keep coming back! Whenever I'm here, there's just a steady stream of Chinese people (mostly older crowd) coming to get food and leaving with bags of food.

Me included! This was like $65 for a heavy haul of food!

Also I don't even make it home, I have to rip into the green onion pancakes or bite into the pies right in the parking lot and it tastes so good! As we eat, we see more people coming and going. This is the spot!

Bring cash if you can too, but they do take credit card.

Enjoy!!
