Rounding out the end of teacher appreciation week, I splurged on some fancy strawberries from fruitqueen to gift to the teachers, one pint per teacher.

Pictured here are Japanese Suki and Japanese Haruhi, as well as Chandler strawberries (from Swanton Berry Farm). I didn't know there were so many varieties of strawberries!
They were all amazing but the Suki ones were my favorite. They are teensy weensy but pack a big punch! So sweet and bursting with flavor.
To quote from a fruitqueen newsletter about the hard work that Ichigo Farms puts into cultivating these strawberries: "These strawberries, like the Suki, are bred for flavor and aroma first, with little concern for shippability, shelf life, or berry size, traits prized in the industrial system." I love that they still pursue growing these. You haven't tasted a real strawberry until you've had one of these. You will be left wondering why is a pint so small!? And understand why people buy the half flat (6 pints) at a time!
Packed them in goody bags for the teachers and off we go! I feel the cute red and white polka dot bag goes with the strawberry theme!
