What's in a Mystery Tee Machine? At Marine Layer in Palo Alto

Updated: Aug 13, 2022

The first time I heard about the Marine Layer brand is when I received a blanket as a gift, and really loved the quality of it. When I noticed that there's a store in Town & Country Village, I stopped by to check out this cool laid-back California living clothing shop.

The clothing is cute and incredibly soft, but it's also a bit pricey ($40 for a t-shirt and upwards). But then there's this amazing vending machine of t-shirts smack in the middle of this small store! And the shirts are $20! You can pick Guys or Gals, and sizes are S, M, L or XL.

The machine is unfortunately broken, but a salesperson can help open the machine and get a random shirt for you. It's less exciting than getting a shirt from a push of a button, but still fun. I think it's the mysterious allure of not knowing what you'll get!

We got a Medium Guys shirt inside this envelope. After we pay for it, we get to open it!

Inside is a gray t-shirt, a nice classic shirt and very soft! We like it! My husband immediately puts it on and walks out of the store with it. I think about how I'm going to borrow it from him as a sleep shirt or to go out as an oversized shirt.

I got one from the machine too!

Stop by for the t-shirt machine at Marine Layer and let me know in the comments what you get! :P
